WASHINGTON, D.C. — On August 14, 2023, U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick issued the following statement on the indictment of Donald Trump by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis:
“Once again, we are reminded that no American is above the law.
Over the course of 2023, the former president has now been indicted four times. Donald Trump is entitled to his day in court, but these latest charges are alarming and should by no means be considered part of a larger ‘witch hunt.’ Deeming them as such is not only inaccurate, but it threatens the very rule of law upon which our nation was founded. No different than the previous indictments, this one must also proceed without outside interference.”
