Spotlight on our Artist Innovation Fellowship Program! Aligned with the Council’s mission to champion, engage and grow the arts in Palm Beach County, this funding program was designed to celebrate the artistic process and support professional artists in all disciplines. One of six fellowship recipients for 2022, Riviera Beach-based artist Kianga Jinaki is an award-winning visual artist who has spent the year preparing work that will be showcased next summer during a sweeping exhibition at the Council. A contemporary folk artist, she creates art quilts, dolls and mixed media works that tell the story of her heritage as an African-American, incorporating historic and cultural traditions from both America and Africa. Traditional and contemporary African textiles are used in her work along with textiles that she creates by dyeing, sun printing and appliqué.
