New law likely to affect some types of home repair at condominiums | PxHere
Beginning July 1st, a new Florida law (F.S.S. 163.211) will prohibit municipalities like the Village from requiring licenses for some, but not all, home repair- and construction-related trades.
However, Florida law requires contractors to pull a permit for some types of work, such as flooring at condominiums. But for a contractor to pull a permit, a local contractor's license is required by state law. Without a Village-issued license, many tradespeople, particularly "handyman" workers, will not be able to get permits. The new law does not apply to electricians, plumbers and some other fields.
