Otolaryngologist Dr. Cody Aull is a former U.S. Navy flight surgeon who is now the provider at West Palm Beach Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers.

Originally from Norman, Oklahoma, Aull had an interest in flight and went on to be a flight surgeon in the Navy for four years.

"I had lots of different and amazing opportunities, and I absolutely loved them," Aull told North Palm Beach Today. "They brought me to ENT (ear, nose and throat) in a roundabout way. It was neat that Admiral Arthur -- the admiral who was in charge of the Navy at that time -- said we couldn't do just aerospace medicine as a residency. So, I was like, ‘Oh, I'll look into something else.’ Next thing you know, I fell in love with ENT and I never looked back."

Aull earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine at the University of Health Sciences/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri before completing his residency in otolaryngology and surgery at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Missouri. He specializes in treating patients suffering from issues related to the ear, nose, throat, head and neck. He can treat problems related to breathing, swallowing, hearing and speaking.

"The most satisfying part about (being a doctor) is that I really like to see problems fixed," Aull said. "The sinuses create a myriad of different problems. But when you really know it, it's a very complicated system. I find it absolutely beautiful, and I geek out about the fact that you can get all the information. We can show you exactly why you're having the problems that you're having. And it makes sense. When it makes sense and we see what we have, then we can take care of it and you can get better. And that's what I really like about having everything right there at your disposal.

"It's a disease process. There are so many people who aren't treated because they've failed so many times with treatment, because people didn't know what they were doing. You get a little of this, a little of our pixie dust here, but then nobody comes up with a good plan. They say, ‘Hey, let's just fix this and be done with it.’ We can take care of all these people who suffer from that. And that's exciting for me."

When Aull isn't in the office, he likes to ride horses and still enjoys flying aircraft. He also participates in various activities available in the West Palm Beach area.

"I love the beach," Aull said. "There are plenty of things to do here. I'm a little artsy-fartsy, so I love going to musicals, plays, operas, ballets and all those things. There are so many things down here in South Florida that give me an opportunity to enjoy life."

Aull previously worked at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi, before joining the team at West Palm Beach Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers.
