North Palm Beach: Finance Dep't. documents awarded for excellence

8

North Palm Beach issued the following announcement on February 25.

The Village Finance Department recently earned two significant awards from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The Department was given the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the quality of the 2022 budget document, which details Village money coming in and going out. The budget document shows how the Village's financial decisions are aligned with Council priorities and strategic plans. It is the 13th year in a row the budget document has earned the award, which signifies that taxpayer dollars are being managed by a team of professionals who follow industry best practices to account properly for public money.

The Finance Department also was awarded by the GFOA with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for 2020, which details information concerning the financial condition and activities of the Village government. Among other items, the CAFR presents the status of Village investments and audits of financial practices.

The GFOA is an international accounting association that represents public finance officials in the United States and Canada and works to advance excellence in public finance. They award public agencies that demonstrate excellence in accounting techniques and transparency, and that create documents to advance the agency's mission and effectiveness.

The current Village budget document and CAFR, as well as budgets and CAFRs for several past years can be found on the Finance Department page.
