North Palm Beach: Your landscaper is required to remove clippings from property

6

North Palm Beach issued the following announcement on January 27.

Did you know that if you hire a landscaper to trim your trees, then the landscaper is required to remove the debris from your property? If you do the work yourself and put the debris out for collection in the swale the Village will pick it up during routine vegetation collection, but when professionals do the work, they must haul away the clippings themselves.

Village Code Section 14-27 (b)4 says, "All providers of commercial tree trimming and/or landscape maintenance services retained to perform services within the Village shall be registered with the Village's Community Development Department and shall be required to remove all yard waste generated by such tree trimming and/or landscape maintenance activities. For the purpose of this section, a provider of commercial tree trimming and/or landscape maintenance services shall be defined as a person, group of persons, or entity that routinely engages in, and markets itself as a provider of, such services for a fee."

This is important to keep in mind when negotiating a price with the landscaper so you can evaluate what works best for you. All landscapers who are registered to work within Village limits know this, so if you plan to hire someone, it's a good idea to clarify that they will remove the debris when you make an agreement.
