STATS OF THE GAME:
- The first half was a tightly contested back and forth affair that saw the two teams play within five points of each other for the entire 20 minutes.
- The Falcons took a 5-0 lead before Tommie Luke scored the first five points of the game for the Fighting Knights to tie it back up at 5-5. The teams went into the first media timeout with Lynn leading 10-9.
- The scoring slowed down quite a bit over the next four-minute span, with each team managing just five points each. The Fighting Knights continued to hold onto a one-point lead, 15-14.
- The teams traded baskets from there and at the under four-minute media timeout, the two teams were tied at 26.
- However, Notre Dame was able to take advantage of the final stretch of the half, outscoring the Fighting Knights 8-2 to take the 34-30 lead into the half.
- Brandon Bornelus was 3-5 from deep in the first half, as he led the Fighting Knights with nine points heading into the break.
- Through 20 minutes, the two teams had identical rebounding numbers with each recording 19 total, including five on the offensive end and 14 on the defensive. The Falcons shot better as a team from the field, while the Fighting Knights shot better from three-point range. Both teams shot 50% from the free throw line, but the Fighting Knights attempted only two shots in the first half.
- In the second half, it was the Falcons who came out fired up, extending their lead to eight points to make it 42-34.
- Lynn continued to chip away at the lead and finally tied the game when Bornelus hit his fourth three of the game to knot the game at 50. Just a moment later, Peevy hit a jumper to give Lynn their first lead of the second half with 7:23 remaining in the game.
- Notre Dame hung tough, but with the Fighting Knights up 60-57, Lynn put together an incredible possesion that saw three offensive rebounds and an emphatic putback jam by Cameron Gaines to give the Fighting Knights a five-point lead with just over two minutes remaining. It was exactly the type of possession the Fighting Knights needed to ice the game and come away with 68-63 victory.
- Bornelus led the way with 18 points on 7-15 shooting, including 4-7 from three-point range.
- Peevy wasn't the only Fighting Knight to record a double-double. Gaines also scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Gaines led the way with five offensive boards.
- Peevy led the way with 11 rebounds and four assists to go along with his 13 points.
- The victory give the Fighting Knights a perfect 6-0 record in nonconference play this season.
- The 68 points scored by Lynn was their lowest total in a game this season.
The Fighting Knights will be off for nearly two weeks before returning to action on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 4 p.m. with a conference road game against Rollins.
