Bishop Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez announced on May 6 that he continues to invite high school youth and young adults ages 16 to 39 to join him on the diocesan pilgrimage to World Youth Day, which will take place August 1-10, 2027, in Seoul, South Korea. The announcement also included an expression of gratitude toward sponsors who are helping remove financial barriers for participants.
The support from these sponsors is important because it allows more young people from the diocese to participate in the international event. Bishop Rodríguez said their generosity is making a difference for many faithful who might otherwise not be able to attend.
The diocese recognized several major contributors: Mr. Joseph Kasputys as “Our Lady of Mercy and Peace Patron” with a donation over $55,000; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garvy as part of the “Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Friendship Circle” with gifts over $2,750; and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nieman, Ms. Kristi Truong, and Ms. Marietta McNulty in the “Saint Carlo Acutis Fellowship Circle” for contributions above $500.
Those interested in becoming sponsors for World Youth Day 2027 can donate online or call the diocesan office before the Diocesan Scholarship Application deadline on May 15, 2026.
