The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception announced on May 10 a series of offerings aimed at encouraging Catholic mothers, including prayers, stories, and virtual resources.
These initiatives are intended to provide spiritual support and inspiration for mothers in the Catholic community. The announcement highlights several ways that faith can be strengthened through prayer, scripture, and examples from Church history.
Among the featured resources are a virtual tour titled “Mary Mother of the Church,” three prayers specifically for mothers, and ten scripture verses chosen for their relevance to motherhood. The Basilica also presents tributes to Mary as “Mother of Mankind” as well as profiles honoring three notable mothers from Church tradition.
Additional content includes reflections on St. Monica—recognized as the patron saint of mothers—and accounts of four saints who were devoted mothers themselves. There is also a feature celebrating faithful mothers from biblical times.
The Basilica invites those interested to participate in perpetual enrollment for mothers, offering ongoing spiritual remembrance. These efforts aim to recognize both historical figures and contemporary women who embody faith within their families.
